Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 October 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Knoim (knoim.com) — a search service operated by Rocket Domains Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our").

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Knoim. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. The service

Knoim provides a web search interface. We do not produce the search results ourselves — we present results returned by an independent privacy-respecting search index. Results may include links to third-party websites, snippets of their text, and references to their content ("Third-Party Content"). We do not control, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of Third-Party Content.

The service is provided to you free of charge for personal, non-commercial use. We may add, change, or remove features at any time without notice.

3. How results are ordered

Search results are inherently ordered by some mechanism, and we believe in being transparent about ours. The order in which results appear on Knoim is determined by the following, in this order:

  1. The underlying search index. Brave Search returns results in a default relevance order produced by its own ranking system. We do not control or have visibility into the precise weights Brave uses. Brave's ranking does not personalise to you as an individual — it is the same for any visitor making the same query from the same region.
  2. Your chosen lens, if any. When you select a lens (e.g. "open", "academic", "deep"), we ask Brave to apply a community-defined re-ranking ("goggles") that promotes or demotes certain types of source. This is an editorial choice made by us about the lens, not by us about you.
  3. Our editorial filters. We may remove specific URLs from results — for example, in response to a valid takedown notice, a quiet-word report we have upheld, or our own judgement that a result is unsafe or misleading. We may also feature a "Knoim of the Day" pick chosen by hand.

What we do not do:

  • Knoim does not personalise the order of results based on you as an individual. We do not build a behavioural profile from your past searches, your clicks, your location beyond country, or any other signal tied to you.
  • We do not accept payment to rank a result higher, and there are no paid advertisements interleaved with results.
  • We do not use machine learning models trained on visitor behaviour to choose what you see.

In short: the same query from the same country returns the same results to every visitor, save for the editorial actions described above.

4. What you may do

  • Use the service to search the web for lawful purposes;
  • Save searches and receive email alerts about new results;
  • Locally bookmark results in your browser;
  • Report content via our quiet word form.

5. What you may not do

You agree NOT to:

  • use the service in violation of any applicable law, rule, or regulation;
  • scrape, crawl, or extract bulk content from the service, or otherwise use it in a manner that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure;
  • use automated means (bots, scripts, headless browsers) without our prior written permission;
  • circumvent or attempt to circumvent rate limits, abuse-prevention mechanisms, or access controls;
  • submit search queries on behalf of others as part of a commercial service that competes with the search results provider that powers our index;
  • use the service or any content received through it to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or benchmark artificial intelligence or machine-learning models, or to create derivative search products;
  • store, cache, mirror, or redistribute search results in whole or in part, except for transient storage required for the operation of the device or application you use to view them;
  • use the service to send spam, phishing, malware, hateful content, harassment, infringing material, or content that exploits or endangers children;
  • use the service to violate intellectual property rights, publicity rights, or privacy rights of any person;
  • submit false, misleading, or abusive content-removal reports;
  • interfere with the security or integrity of the service, our infrastructure, or that of any other party.

The restrictions in this section reflect our own obligations to our underlying search results provider; breaching them could expose us to claims by them against you.

6. Intellectual property

The Knoim name, logo, design, source code, and overall look and feel are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

Search results may contain Third-Party Content owned by third parties. Your use of such Third-Party Content is governed by the rights of those third parties. We do not transfer any rights to Third-Party Content.

Search queries you submit remain yours; you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable licence to use them solely to operate, maintain, improve, and secure the service, and to comply with applicable law.

7. Reporting content (quiet word)

If a result on our service infringes your rights or constitutes illegal content, please submit a report through our quiet word form. Your submission will receive an acknowledgement and a decision with reasons (a "statement of reasons" under EU Digital Services Act Article 17 where applicable).

You may submit false-report appeals via the same channel.

8. Saved searches and email

You may save a search query to receive email notifications about new results. You consent to receive such emails by submitting the save form. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send you. We do not use email addresses for marketing or any purpose unrelated to the saved-search service.

9. Disclaimers

The Knoim service, including all search results, is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, reliability, security, and timeliness.

WE MAKE NO WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, BE ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED. SEARCH RESULTS AND THIRD-PARTY CONTENT MAY BE INACCURATE, OUTDATED, OR INCOMPLETE. YOU USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (for example, in the UK, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, or fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation).

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will we, our directors, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, or licensors be liable to you for any:

  • indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages;
  • loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or anticipated savings;
  • loss or corruption of data;
  • damages arising from your reliance on Third-Party Content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

For service we provide free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the service and these Terms shall not exceed one hundred pounds sterling (£100) or the equivalent in your local currency.

This section applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or any other legal theory, and even if a stated remedy has failed its essential purpose. Nothing in this section limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by applicable law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless us, our directors, officers, employees, agents, affiliates, licensors, and our search results provider from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • your use of the service in breach of these Terms;
  • any content you submit, including search queries, saved-search emails, and quiet-word reports;
  • your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights;
  • your violation of any applicable law.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or used the service in a manner that imposes risk or harm on us, our infrastructure, or other users. We may also suspend the service in full or in part at any time for maintenance, security, or commercial reasons.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms, except that we retain the right to bring proceedings in any other jurisdiction where you reside or have assets.

If you are a consumer based in the European Union, nothing in this section affects your right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, and you have the benefit of any mandatory provisions of consumer protection law in that country. If you are a consumer based in the United States, this section is intended to be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law; if it is found unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the courts of that jurisdiction shall apply.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Severability: if any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
  • No waiver: failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
  • Assignment: you may not assign your rights under these Terms; we may assign ours, including to an affiliate or successor.
  • Entire agreement: these Terms, together with our <a href="https://knoim.com/privacy-notice/">Privacy Notice</a>, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.
  • Third-party rights: except where expressly stated, no third party has any right to enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 or analogous law.
